for starters

why doesn't microsoft make PCs?

wouldn't it make more sense

they manufacture gaming consoles, pda, peripherals, an OS like 95% of people use in the world but they don't make PCs??

and why can companies like Dell become BILLIONAIRES when they DON"T DO ANYTHING IMPORTANT!!!

All they do is arrange parts made by other corporations into a shitbox

then load it with an OS made by another corporation

then they pay another corporation that picks up the packages and delivers them to your house

then they pay another corporation from other countries to troubleshoot and tech support your garbage when it breaks down

and finally...
profit like a bunch of mofos.

They become billionaires just eating the fruits of other people's labor.

does this make anyone else upset or angry?

You sound jealous.

Obviously each company is doing what is best for itself.

You seem to be misguided about a lot of different things.

The least important of which, is that Dell actually does design and build their own stuff. They are not much different than an Apple Computer.

The irony is that you want Microsoft to do what Dell is doing... which is basically tossing together components and selling for a profit.

microsoft should start building PCs and put every PC manufacturer out of business by not allowing them to install windows in any non windows created PC (like apple)

Perhaps you should try graduating from High School first. I think we learned about Antitrust in Sophmore year.

maybe you should try graduating from college, where you can learn how easily corporations can change or manipulate laws.

They can not restrict their OS to their own branded systems. That would be monopolizing the hardware industry.

Hint: Apple can't do it because they have tiny market-share. If you want do edumacate yourself, read why someone already tried to sue Apple unsuccessfully on grounds of antitrust and failed: http://www.informationweek.com/news/hardware/mac/showArticle.jhtml?articleID=212100757

NEWSFLASH: companies are not charities. They exist to make money. If you want to live in a command economy, move to the U.S.S.R. Oh wait it Failed

why move to the USSR when obama is bringing the USSR to the United States?

as globalization emerges it's going to become harder and harder to try to pin a monopoly on someone and laws will be overturned

apple's success may explode one day and they'll have 51% market share or higher and business will continue as normal..

antitrust was created centuries ago, these laws will not be valid in the future.

Some tool in another thread was bitching about how I was making everything political. So I decided to placate him a little and not mention the obvious.

I thought he might have been able to put two and two together...

Open your eyes, globalization has happened for about 50 years now.

The laws will remain relatively unchanged but in the future, Apple will no longer be able to restrict their product to their own hardware.

you really think apple will give out it's iOS?

what about gaming consoles? nintendo has the whole "mass market" and at least has 60-70% of the gaming market and possibly more in the handheld market but they restrict their AAA to their hardware only isn't that considered a monopoly?

You might want to discuss this topic with your social studies teacher. He/She may give you extra credit for the attempt at critical thinking.

Dell arranges, coordinates, assembles, tests, packs, and informs. Last I knew, all of those were valuable services.

Microsoft doesn't need your permission to make or not make computers. It's none of your business.
