Things seem calmer with Obama as president

I remember when GWB was in office, you would hear people saying things like "he's not my president". Other times people would say that they were uncomfortable to even be an American so long as he was president.

With Obama, I've heard people complain that he spends too much money, but it's been nothing in comparison to what happened with GWB.

I guess what I'm wondering is: Do Democrats have more trouble living under a Republican president as opposed to Republicans living under a Democrat? Or was GWB simply a lousy president?

Do you really need to ask that?

Come on Sick BEAST the rage against Obama is much worse than Bush, Its just the wording used by Rep . is more refined than the dem base . Thus they have problems comprehending whats being said.

OP... do you live under a rock? People around here who voted for obama are taking off their Hope and Change bumber stickers at a frantic pace.

Totally different times with obama in office. At least with Clinton in the White House... there was a balance when the republicans took control of congress (remember the budget surplus and welfare reform? good times).

And I think the rumblings you heard about people being uncomfortable to be American under GWB come from the hollywood liberals... none of whom made good on their promises.

I use to be independant. Now I see the beast for what it is , I won't belong to either camp. Nor will I vote. I wash my hands of this . Even tho I share the guilt of letting things get this far.

Did you become a Jehovah's Witness or something?

You need to vote; it's the only power we have against these bastards!

I would say that someone like Ron Paul represents a different wolf pack.

I happen to believe our OP has a valid point, but still, we can turn the question somewhat around, especially for the subset of people that travel internationally with
people of other nationalities.

In other words, the USA is only 5% of the world's population, so we can ask, if Obama is better regarded than previous US presidents internationally? Obama is no brainer slam dunk better than GWB as an answer to that question. As many US citizens knew they would be dumped on by their fellow passengers if they admitted they were from the USA and so they often said I am from Canada instead.

Nor were Presidents like Nixon, Reagan, or GWB popular with other nations. Carter and Clinton were far more popular and trusted, but for a possible high US popularity international trust point, that might belong to GHB in engineering the coalition of the willing to expel Saddam from Kuwait.

But getting back to the original thread question, I personally think, given the damage GWB did to the USA, both domestically and internationally, Obama is doing pretty well considering. And that the greatest obstacle to Obama returning the USA to propriety is GOP resistance to change.

If the GOP ever gets back in charge without changing its ideals, we can expect the economy to flush right down the toilet at near the speed of light. Because the GOP still has not learned a damn thing from the mistakes of GWB.

Vote him in than , I am not looking forward to 2012. I just going to try to enjoy what life I have left. Try to become a better person , Even tho I struggling wth that, In the last week I had personal things happen that have given me great joy . My dad came over to visit ME at my house the first time ever. I see him often at his home . We were great friends up until he found out I was a pot smoker. He more or less dis owned me. Its has been a struggle . After he left last week I teared up for joy . My grandson asked why you cring grandpa. I said I not crying those are tears of happiness. His reply was I didn't know people cried when happy . I said yes they do child when the happiness is overwhelming. Dad is in bad shape mentally now . Memory and all , I not in good health either . But I been a son to him threw it all . Now that he is basicly helpless me and my oldest sister see him daily along with the child.
We are the only ones he remembers now as his favorit cut and run . Something I will deal with latter today . The poor guy is hurt and needs his whole family . Were is their love I know not . But for 2 of us. Dad said he never understood me until now . and apolagized for his behaviur. Much has occurred in the last week and my heart is filled with joy . GOD be praised .

GWB had a more chaotic presidency, especially on the international level. Obama is just a traditional liberal. He may not be the greatest but he's not a train wreck like GWB.

No! He's great.. Deficit is under control, people have jobs, no wars, oil disasters completely under control, no government takeovers of banks, car companies.. No illegal immigrants are crossing over the borders.. Healthcare is fixed.. the world loves us! Its great!
