Name some things people think exist everywhere in the civilized world just because they have them in their area.
A few I've heard:
Not being able to pump your own gas. People from states where this is actually a law (not being able to pump your own) seem to think this is how it is in every state and call people crazy for doing it themselves. I know there's not even full service anywhere around here, so it's not even an option to not do it yourself.

The inspiration for this thread: Having drive-up ATMs everywhere. I would have assumed all of North America (including Canada) would have these, but I guess not!

In Korea i remember the driver driving up and the attendant would fill up the car while the car was still running.

Clean water
I was in a tiny village in Alaska, and our faucets had yellow water coming out of them.

In-N-Out? :p

Yup, restaurants are a big one. People wonder why you go to "x" instead of "y".
It's because they don't even have "x" anywhere in this state!
Never seen an In-N-Out or a Five Guys. I do think they got an In-N-Out somewhere around here, but I've never seen it!

Define clean? That's well water and is most likely absolutely perfect to drink.

You think that just because the water that comes out of your tap is see-through that it's clean? Hehe. Do you realize how many chemicals and time and effort goes in to cleaning water? Not only are you consuming all the contaminates between the treatment plant and your doorstep, you're also ingesting all the chemicals put into the water to make it "clean" in the first place.

Nor have I.

What else sucks: No Dunkin' Donuts within at least 50 miles, at least according to their website. :(

I thought fast food was everywhere, until I moved to DC. Why is my only choice McDonald's? It's the worst one.

They're pretty much hit or miss here. There's a McD's and a BK within about a block of each other, very close to my house. If I eat at McD, I get cancer. If I eat at McD, I get cancer with a side of Aids.

Haven't seen one in Sweden either. Most ATM's are either inside buildings or along pedestrian streets anyway, so you can't even get near them without getting out of your car.

We do have removable window screens however, as some areas of the country are really mosquito infested.

Small family owned restaurants that aren't fucking chains.

Apparently, noone on Florida goes to a restaurant unless there is brand name recognition. Good for Applebee's, bad for dining options...
