There are 6 of us in the office...one single mother.

We are all going out to dinner to bid a co-worker fairwell...

The single mother says she is bringing her two year old...

I reply (note: read topic summary), "you're bringing that thing?!"

Probably not the best thing you could've said... I probably would have said "Oh darn, wouldn't you know I already have plans for that night? I can't go". I can't stand it when screaming kids who shouldn't be in certain places and whose parents do nothing about it are across the place from me, much less right next to me.

1) Yes, she is a Milf...30 years old, total hottie (but psycho).
2) We haven't gone out yet. But the "thing" will most likely come as the childs father is a moron (note: mother still in love).
3) She gave me a strange look...followed by anger... all I could say was "my bad". What else can I say? :)

She's Mexican American, born here in the U.S.

She is teaching this little girl Spanish first then English second. Does that seem like a good idea?

If no one else was bringing children, then I would hail you as a hero. There are some situations where bringing a child is not appropriate, and that would be one of them. It's one of those unfortunate situations where the best course of action is to find a babysitter or skip the event.

exactly.

it's an adult evening...eating, boozing. A FAREWELL party...and she wants to (note again: not "has to") bring the two-year old! Her mother watches the child all the time.

She doesn't sound like the Queen of good ideas.

Maybe you can teach her daughter "Consígame una cerveza, perra"

I know kids pick up langiages fast. But I remember reading that if you speak dual languages to them at a you age, it confuses them...

It just seems the teaching her Spanish first is going to Handi-Cap her in the early years of her life.

but I could be wrong.

i don't see anythning wrong with that. in fact, i think it is a good idea. i learned Korean first and then English. now i can speak both. i have a nephew who learned korean first and now is learning English through school. he can speak both well.

Let's hope she has the good sense to never, ever have sex with you. :)

hey now, I can't fantasize that she wants to have sex with me!!! :)

you ever get to know someone thats real hot but start finding them less attractive because of their personality (this is a perfect example)?

It's like saying "Ferrari's are cool cars" rather than "I want to own a cool Ferrari".

while i agree that kids are not a good idea at this type of party, your comment was tactless and rude.
