Calling a black person ?Uncle Tom and Aunt Jemima?? is a pretty offensive thing to do.
Uncle Tom has always been used in a derogatory way. The whole point of the slang is to imply that someone isn?t really ?black? or that they are trying to act like a white person.
And Aunt Jemima has a similar derogatory nature about it.
If I was to refer to a Muslim member of the forum as a ?beloved patriot? would you be so anxious to excuse my term? Maybe I just meant he had just washed his hair?
(And yes I know Muslims don?t wear towels, it is Sikhs who wear ?towels.?)

So please explain how your use of it would not be racist or at the least insulting?
It would be one thing to point out that other people have called them that term, but it is entirely another for you to use the term yourself.
It is the same that the ?nappy headed hoe? comment. It was wrong for Imus to use that term, but it is acceptable for everyone in the following days to use it in discussing the story.
Edit 3chordcharlie go back and read the only post by jpeyton between when he first said it and his last post. No where does he say he is quoting some historial use of the term. He called them that and then he said "Nobody missed it because it's right on the mark." Not exactly referencing an incident.

Appointing conservative blacks still counts as promoting diversity, even if they speak English, don't hold their gun sideways, their pants aren't drooping around their ankles, and their grill isn't solid gold.

Yes. It does make it less racist. You not knowing about it doesn't say anything about your intelligence per se, but it does say that you jumped to conclusions about something. I would call that wishful thinking, to be charitable. You tried to completely discredit someone, when in fact you were the one who was unaware of the context.

That kind of depends on the context, but there was nothing racist about what he said. In fact what he said wasn't an 'argument' or particularly useful at all, it was simply a sarcastic statement with little substance. I would say that it deserved no response, or if anything a defence of the Bush administration's propensity to appoint 'minorities' who never-the-less tow the party line, to positions of apparent influence.
In the end, I developed respect for Powell, because he left. Rice is a useless human being, but only because of her devotion to an administration to a party that insists on lying to the public, and operating in a secretive manner to the benefit of a few elite individuals. Not because she happens to be black.

I'm sorry but you are wrong, he didn't convey the context of what he was talking about at all, thats not my fault, thats his. If I responded to a post about a two black people and my post simply said "You mean those two Ns", would that be ok? Even if I was referring to someone else saying it, it definitely would not be ok, and it would be my fault for not articulating my point.
I guess from now on anytime a thread mentions black people I'll just respond with "Stupid N", then you and Jpeyton can come and defend me from all the people that call me racist because they must not have understood the context that I was using it in.

Aunt Jemima is a symbol of old bad stereotypes, like Little Black Sambo, black dolls, stylized black "watchman" lanterns next to the driveway, etc. It is nonsensical to essentially call Condolleezza Rice a black mammy-- which is obviously so far from the truth, no matter what your political leanings, as to be deserving only of laughter-- and racist to assume that a successful black woman conservative is, at heart, essentially a black mammy.

I think his immigration ideas are the perfect mix of both sides of the argument and at least have some merit in them. Other than that, can't think of a ton of things.
He's a man of God, and although me and many others dont agree with some things he has done. I beleive they have all happened for a reason, since he was put in office by God. Therefore everything that has happened was meant to happen, and I will not argue with it. Personally, I beleive he needs/needed to be in office for these last days.
