Reading the technical description of how it works, I can see how it gets around the contrast, true color, & viewing angle issues of normal LCDs, but it sounds to me like this should have the same scaling issues/resolution limitations, in fact even lower res I'd think...

CANDESCENT ABANDONS ITS GRAND PLANS
PRODUCT SHIFTED
50 LET GO
San Jose's Candescent Technologies, a designer of high-tech flat-panel displays that raised more than $600 million in venture capital, is abandoning plans to make its product -- becoming one of the largest start-ups to fizzle in Silicon Valley history.
The company laid off at least 50 of its approximately 100 workers last week, and is now slimming down to a remnant of its former self to license its technology to anyone who will buy it, company leaders and investors confirmed.

Believe it or not, I know the fella (one of, anyway) that started that company. I've been meaning to ask him about his product, but I guess that's all over now. He and his wife opened up a sushi restaurant on Telegraph Ave. in Berkeley as a side business.
