Thin Purple Line Down Left Side of Monitor...

Well guees what my Maxtor HD has broken AGAIN.... going to have to RMA it for the second time!

However, thats not what this post is about... after installing a fresh copy of windows onto a mates spare 40gig HD the screen image not extend all the way to the left hand side!

- there is a narrow (about 1mm) strip of purple down the left hand side of the screen...

- i am running a 7900GT using the DVI out into a LCD 19" monitor @ 1280x1024 (the exact same settings as i used to run)

Have tried to used the monitors Horizontal picture adjustment feature but i cant get this to move either way.

Any ideas whats going wrong? Or how i can fix it?

hrmm they pretty up to date... and same 1's i used to use without problem...

Ive seen this happen before but it was the monitors fault.

Try the nVidia control panel, there's a picture adjustment feature in there too. (Look under Nview Display Setup>Device Settings>Device Adjustments).

is there anything with a magnetic field near the monitor or graphics card? Eg speaker or battery

It's an LCD and I doubt there is a speaker or battery next to his graphics card if he had a CRT this might be different.

I am curious have you tried using this monitor on another computer? or maybe hooking it up via VGA.

Does the purple show up in the bios also?
