All TPU cases are about the same. Maybe you can just do clear body wrap using plastic. Sort of like clear screen protector but on the body. The removable back could make it little tricky but you could wrap that separately.

I love my CaseMate Barely There for my GS3. I'm sure the Nexus one is nice as well.

If you're so concerned about thin-ness, why bother? I never used a case on GalaxyS and it was fine after 2 years of use.

The TPU thickness is its protection. You can lighten up the back with a "hybrid TPU" one like this -- they substitute hard plastic for TPU there to cut bulk. But you want to keep the TPU around the frame for screen shock absorption (drops).

TPU isn't bulky at all. In fact it's quite good. I'm not sure what you're talking about.

Most of those hard plastic cases suck, and the ones that try to give you protection use a dual silicone + plastic construction which effectively doubles your phone thickness or something. Think Otterbox. TPU cases will give you great protection. 95% of that protection for a small thickness upgrade.

Some of the thickness that comes with TPU is because it has a front bezel that's raised. That's probably where the extra 2mm comes in, but it doesn't really increase the overall thickness of the phone.
