so they took the race bike. I wasn't sure if it was his trainer, which has some sick gearing (like 52 x 14) pretty high gear inches. Most people would have trouble riding that fixed gear.

I'll bet they took it to the river and tossed it in.

Or it's already in Mexico.

that's nasty man... keep it clean :|
What!?! It's common street knowledge that a lot of stolen high priced mountain bikes go across the border. As for the river comment, the Hotel they were staying at is just down the street from Old Sacramento and less than 3/8 mile from either river, so it wouldn't be a stretch for them to dump it since it's so identifiable. PLUS, no fence in his right mind would touch that thing. THAT's a serious felony the LE would have to hoist you up as an example over.

Whoever their equipment manager is should be fired. There is no way that had to happen.

Why should the equipment manager get canned.

The statements state the trailer was secured.

It will be stripped of parts and the parts will be sold separately. The frame will be painted and sold. The serial number on the bottom bracket will be erased.

Hanging is too good for someone who would steal a bike. :) Especially a TT Bike!!! Talk about death penalty offenses.

Robert- 114 triathlons, and 7 Ironmans, and counting.

I would say that secured would be taken as "locked". And simply locking something is not secured. Maybe in a perfect world, but Downtown Sacramento is not perfect anything, except maybe a mess. A simple cruise around the area late at night would have shown a fair number of homeless and vagrant population. Break-ins are VERY common Downtown, so much so, that you phone in your burglary report to SacPD. I'm sure they gave Lance Armstrong a personal visit, but the citizens here don't get that level of service.
At the very least that trailer should have been backed into a flat wall so as to prevent opening.

When I toured with rock bands and we were using trailers, the guitars came out every night.
Yes it was a bitch, but none were ever stolen on my watch either. No one wants amplifiers, the money is in the guitars.

The stories I've heard said that NORMALLY, they back the trailer up against a building so the doors can't be opened.

The hotel convinced them that it wouldn't be necessary. They had security to guard the trailer.
