it's not as...superficial (can't think of a better word) as quake or UT. I love games with actual strategy such as AOE, thief, or commandos.

how is thief 2 compared to gold?

Thief 2 takes Thief to the extreme. Though I haven't finished T2 yet, the first 10 or so levels are better than any found in T1. The level design is amazing, the stupid undead infestation from T1 is *gone*, the 3D engine has improved and the artists did a great job with light-reflected textures giving it a truly believable look. And T2 has more goodies to play with. It's better in every way!

UT and Q3 can't hold a candle to games like Thief, SS, and Dues Ex. I'll take by blackjack over a railgun any day.

I have been finding Thief I Gold in the bargain bins lately... I think I outta pick it up.
