" In 1994 an English homeowner, armed with a toy gun, *snip* was arrested for putting someone in fear. Now the police are pressing Parliament to make imitation guns illegal."

That was a good read comparing this.
Some highlights:
" In 1994 an English homeowner, armed with a toy gun, managed to detain two burglars who had broken into his house while he called the police. When the officers arrived, they arrested the homeowner for using an imitation gun to threaten or intimidate. In a similar incident the following year, when an elderly woman fired a toy cap pistol to drive off a group of youths who were threatening her, she was arrested for putting someone in fear. Now the police are pressing Parliament to make imitation guns illegal."
Sounds fine.
" The FBI asks police to list every homicide as murder, even if the case isn't subsequently prosecuted or proceeds on a lesser charge, making the U.S. numbers as high as possible. By contrast, the English police "massage down" the homicide statistics, tracking each case through the courts and removing it if it is reduced to a lesser charge or determined to be an accident or self-defense, making the English numbers as low as possible."
I have nothing to argue about, nothing to base this on, no facts or statistics to take issue with
In 1999 Tony Martin, a 55-year-old Norfolk farmer living alone in a shabby farmhouse, awakened to the sound of breaking glass as two burglars, both with long criminal records, burst into his home. He had been robbed six times before, and his village, like 70 percent of rural English communities, had no police presence. He sneaked downstairs with a shotgun and shot at the intruders. Martin received life in prison for killing one burglar, 10 years for wounding the second, and a year for having an unregistered shotgun. The wounded burglar, having served 18 months of a three-year sentence, is now free and has been granted 5,000 of legal assistance to sue Martin
As long as there is no perceived threat, I don't think the use of lethal force is justified.
LOL America. What a shithole
Oh just shut the fuck up already and go brush your teeth or something.
Worthless troll.
BFDD, just add Hal9000 to your ignore list. The forums have significantly improved, since I have!

Ah Nik it's not a big deal, I don't put anyone on ignore. If I wanted to ignore you guys I'd just stop posting here.

Not us, just the pathetic wastes of flesh like Hal9000 and his ilk.![]()
Careful, you are going to wind up in someones sig. Besides, why are you inserting your comment into someone else's quote? Isn't that considered null around here? Regardless, it is lame to misrepresent someone else like that so blatantly.
Miss Klass, a model for Marks & Spencer and a former singer with the pop group Hear'Say, was in her kitchen in the early hours of Friday when she saw two teenagers behaving suspiciously in her garden.
The youths approached the kitchen window, before attempting to break into her garden shed, prompting Miss Klass to wave a kitchen knife to scare them away.
Miss Klass, 31, who was alone in her house in Potters Bar, Herts, with her two-year-old daughter, Ava, called the police. When they arrived at her house they informed her that she should not have used a knife to scare off the youths because carrying an "offensive weapon" even in her own home was illegal.
Jonathan Shalit, Miss Klass's agent, said that had been "shaken and utterly terrified" by the incident and was stepping up security at the house she shares with her fiancé, Graham Quinn, who was away on business at the time.
He said: "Myleene was aghast when she was told that the law did not allow her to defend herself in her own home. All she did was scream loudly and wave the knife to try and frighten them off.
This is absolutely crazy, happened today it looks like:

I wasn't doing it to misrepresent, I put my comments in bold adjacent to the other guy, it was meant to be my points not his.
Then why even bother using the quote system, just insert your words where ever it fits I guess. When I tried to quote you, nothing was selected except the two .. you added to get around the min char requirement. I had to check what you quoted with his OP to see who wrote what. Regardless, I have seen others warned against this so just passing this on.
Wow the police told her off for waving a knife. My god! What injustice!!!
I wonder what the burgeoning population of home invaders have to say after they get done laughing when they hear about this.
