Went to get my son a birthday present today, he wanted the pokemon game but BB was sold out, then he saw a guy jumping around in front of a big screen tv and went to see what all the crash boom bang was about.

The guy was playing "Eyetoy", an interactive game for ps2 that comes with a usb camera that tracks your moves and puts you on tv in the game, my son played some and decided to get this instead of the pokemon thing.

Anyone ever heard of it or played it?

The camera isnt great but does what it is supposed to, and it took a little practice for him to figure out where swing to hit the targets, but the best part about it is that he is standing, jumping and swing his arms around while playing a video game 😀 instead of just sitting there.

I saw some kid at Fry's playing with it the other day.. he was going crazy and stuff. I thought something was seriously wrong mentally with him until I saw what the Eyetoy thing was about.

I saw it and thought it was a one time gimmick thing. Sorta how the Super Nintendo had the Bazooka and the Nintendo had the Power Glove. They were cool but only came out with a handful of games. 😛

It is good that he is actually sort of exercising and heck if he is enjoying it then I say it was worth every penny. 🙂

Heh, I never heard of it until last night when we saw the guy playing it at BB.

a side note, the camera is properly identified by XP as an "Eyetoy USB camera Namtai" (namtai is the manufacturer) so it may be possible to get it working in windows.
