they towed my car! how do I deal with this situation...

so i live in this apartment complex this semester and I went out to my car this afternoon to find out IT WASN'T THERE! I just moved in and so while i am waiting for my roommate to get me a parking pass I park in the visitors lot. because it snowed they come in the morning and sound a foghorn to alert everyone to come out and move their cars so they can plow. the way my room is set up, i didn't hear the sound this morning at 11am and so they towed my damn car and now they want $160 cash for it!

so my question is what do i do? I'll obviously pay the tow guys, cuz there's nothing i can do about that, but should I raise hell with the landlord about this? after all, i have been living here for only 2 weeks and he never personally explained me the parking policies.

ahh well, trying to control my anger! i'm goin to the tower's now to get my car 🙁

yeah they have a "land owned and managed by town office" or something to that extent, then 2 towing agencies with the appopriate fine charges and stuff. 150 for the first day and 25 each additional day. But I mean it's really not fair, yesterday I was all ready to move my car because it snowed yesterday and they didn't come. today i was home and they decide to plow 2 days later 🙁

but yea signs are def. posted but still they are such jerks and it is such a scam
 
usually there is a limit. like no parking for 24 hrs after a 2" snowfall.
