They sure yell a lot in Curling.

Even in the women's matches they yelled...more like screamed. Pretty funny. 🙂

The sport (yea, right) looks pretty simple. Slide some rocks down the sheet of ice while your teammates sweep the ice in front of it.

Your mind (yea, right) looks pretty simple....
Give it a shot and come back and let us now just how simple it is.
I suppose it's easy to slide the stones. Actually landing them where you want it, OTOH....

Depending on what they yell, the soundwaves can change the consistency of the air and affect the way the stone slides.

They sweep the ice to heat it up and clears debris causing the stone to go farther and faster.

The second one makes sense but are you serious about the first one?

That's like when Will Clark used to claim he liked to hit the ball when it the major seams were parallel to the ground

I think he means the basic premise seems simple to understand...Hell, in two or three sentences, I pretty much know what it takes to win since there's no infield fly rule or rule changes after the two-minute warning 🙂

They're in a large auditorium with hard surfaces (ice).. soundwaves are amplifyed by about 2000% at ground level.
It causes vibrations under the stones

I wonder what the rock would do if they yelled, "OMG!!! OH NO! AIIIIIEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!! NOOOOOO!O!OO!O!!!!" 🙂

So when they score a goal in hockey and that huge siren sounds, everone seated at ice level has their head explode?

I wonder if the people in the audiance are the 'penny-pinching olympic goers'?

"I know you want to go see ice skating Suzy, but all daddy can afford is the curling competition. C'mon, it'll be exiting. You'll see."

Even sliding the rock takes a little practice. In total, I would rank curling up with pool or darts in terms of similar games. It is a game of skill. The whole sport/game of skill line is blurry anyways. Curling is one of those strangley addictive games to watch. You turn it on and say,"what a dumb game". An hour later you're still watching.

I played it for a semester in CEGEP (what a great gym class) and then a few times since then. It is a blast to play and curling clubs have bars in the same facility.

Hey, a resident expert. 🙂 Mind if I ask you a question? Why do the guys who throw the rocks hang on to a broom?

Curling may be considered a "sport" but I think anything you can play absolutely wasted is a "game" 🙂
Mebbe that's why they were yell, they just scream "d00d, we're SOOOOO wasted!!!"

LOL, everyone should make engine noises when curling...
BRAAaaaBRAAAAABADAAAbaDEEEEEEEEE!!! BADINGDADINGDINGDING!

A long time ago they had straw brooms that went smackity smackity smack, that really added to the sport/game/exhibition
