ask your office manager? I think there's a legal minimum, maybe they needed to add more and figured they'd be better off adding them in the back.

...my parking space. Specifically, the handicapped stole it.

Every day I get to work early and my reward is an upfront parking space. Our building has two lots, east and west. There are approximately 10 handicap spaces in the east lot right by the main entrance, maybe 15 yards away. This door opens automatically and has a ramp. The elevator is right inside as well, maybe another 10 yards away.

The west parking lot has no handicap spaces but does have up front parking by the service entrance which opens into the back stairwell which empties five floors up right by my office. The first spot of the first row is "my" spot. That's where I park. All of the spaces in the first row were coned off yesterday, presumably for snow plowing/dumping. Wrong. Upon arriving for work today they have been painted over and are now handicap spaces.

This makes no sense. The west service door does not have a button to open it. It does not have a ramp. The elevator is at the east of the building by the automatic door, the ramp and the existing handicap spaces.

What is the point of having these new spaces?

On top of that, every day at lunch when I pass the east parking lot there is MAYBE 1 car using the handicap spaces. 1 out of 10. Most days it's zero.

I'm probably unfairly blaming the handicapped. The truth is some pinko douche bag government lackey with nothing to add or contribute in life is responsible.

Stop being a little bitch?

Our building has 4 "carpool" spots and 3 "hybrid only" spots.
Only 1 of the carpool spots is used, leaving 6 spots that are never used. :(

they may be planning on other work for the building related to handicap access. the pain job is only the beginning.

As another stated, ask the facilities management.

Maybe they can designate a special spot for you :p

Not all disabilities require a wheel chair and elevator. Nonetheless, requirements of x-many disabled parking places per n-spaces at a company is retarded. A better solution would be: "have enough disabled parking places for however many disabled employees you have."

Every time I go to my local home depot, I'm both amused and annoyed by their parking lot. There are a ton disabled parking spots, all double-width. I can't recall seeing more than 2 of them occupied. Any other "close" parking spots are taken up by shed demos, etc. HALF of the parking lot is unavailable for the majority of their customers, so you have to park twice as far away.

I'm not whining about the distance to walk - it's that it's a pain in the ass when you have 500 pounds of stuff and the parking lot is 3" of slush and snow.

Just park in the PRO spots. That's what I do.
