Not sure if this helps at all, but if you put multiple URLs separated by pipes in the "Location" box, it will open multiple tabs. For example: http://espn.go.com|http://forums.anandtech.com would open up espn.com in one tab and AT forums in another.

Just open up all the tabs you want to be your home page(s) then go into optiosn and choose Use Current and it puts them in there. This has always been a feature in FF...

Or you could make a personalized Google home. You can put basically any RSS feed you want into it -- also will show your Gmail inbox.
