Today I learned that you can't rely on anybody when you're down in the gutter. Not even family members. Thought I could count on one of my siblings. I guess I thought wrong. Pretty disheartening. Oh well, this is even stronger motivation that I should pull myself together, stand back up, depending on nobody but myself. I'll make it through somehow. From now on I'd rather have no place to stay than to ask them for help.



 
When your wife is asking for your opinion on a project, she really just wants to hear that she did a good job.
And also 'It looks like a special ed. class had a field day in here' is not an appropriate response to the question: 'How do you like what I did with the room?'
 
I learned that no matter how great it is to have an up and coming manager who is thrilled with my work and is actively advocating my early promotion, it doesn't mean she can't leave the firm to pursue better opportunities. Life goes on, and in the end, I will succeed or fail by my hand alone.
 
Today, I learned that the Cossacks joined the German army but when defeated at the end of WW2 they surrendered to the Brits who in turn surrendered them to the Soviets and most of them were executed as ordered by Stalin.
