Friend 1: So, done anything today?
Friend 2: Nah, wanted to go watch a movie but I can't.
Friend 1: Why is that?
Friend 2: I wanted to go to the theaters, but then I took an arrow to the knee.
Friend 1: Oh... I... I see.
Friend 2: Yep.

The music sounds, almost note for note, exactly like the Pirates/Caribbean theme.

We need J. Williams.

While having a movie in the Skyrim universe would appear to be cool on the face of it, i would suggest that you take a look at the track record of Games to movie conversion. Short of the first Resident Evil and the fact that they cast Angie as Lara Croft, it has been pretty abysmal.

And then Hollywood would invariably "Require" some kind of comic relief in the movie. think 300 but with the Donkey from Shrek. Or better yet, just look at the horrible train wreck that the DnD movie was.

Not to mention that, with as wide and diverse as the setting is, literally hundreds of hours of game play, how do you pick one story and do it justice?

My vote would be keep games, games and leave the movie magic to other things like Lord of the Rings.

If it sounds like Pirates, it would be more likely because John Williams 'lifted' it, like so much of his later day work. Morrowind released a year or two before the movie. Oh...maybe Morrwind 'inspired' Pirates....

Listen to the Star Wars music, and then Holst's The Planets.

While a fine technician, John Williams' creativity can certainly be called to question.

Hollywood does a generally poor job of adapting things to film. Unless you have a good director with control, who loves the material, you are much more likely to get some Syfy movie of the week dreck.

I saw an add for Skyrim the other day and the music sounds like an arrangement of the Oblivion music. The main Oblivion theme was definitely there, set in a PotC style.

I have no more hope for it, but I'd still love to see an original Fallout movie.

You're kidding, right?

First off, Williams didn't do the score to Pirates. Some other shit Hollywood composer did.

Secondly, while there are similarities in style, The Planets and the SW music are different beings all together: Holst's style is "Motivic" (thematic progression) and Williams' score is Melodic. In essence, you can hum themes to SW but not to the Planets.

Also, Lucas went to Williams and said "I want a Korngold/Holst sound score", which is exactly what Williams produced.

Williams has a definite sound, but he doesn't steal from other composers, like Andrew Lloyd Weber did from Puccini, etc.

My 2 cents.

Hans Zimmer and Klaus Badelt did PotC, iirc.

You think ALW stole from Puccini?

Person 1: I'm through talking to you
Person 2: So what the news in the other parts of Tamerial?

Or how about morrowind, like the Hitchcock movie, The Birds, except replace them with cliff racers LOL

Low chance of the movie being as epic as the game.

The only excellent game/movie combo was the Riddick universe one. Both Riddick movies were awesome (third one incoming!!) and the games were great too!

But the story and movies were created first. It was a movie to game adaptation, versus a game to movie.
Movie to game has always been kind of hit and miss. Some terrific games, and some appalling and terrible games.

LOL. Love it. The girls are cute, bonus that they are also musically impressive.

Edit: Oh wait, that's the same girl. Was too busy trying to raise my one-handed skill.

The pianist does play violin, but not in that video. That's a different girl :p

Hans Zimmer did Pirates (as well as just about every other major action movie in the past decade), and the Skyrim theme sounds nothing like it.
