I have to say, for most of the people I know in the Bay Area, Dianda's in one of the culinary hallmarks of the city. It was one of the only complaints my wife had when we moved up to Sacramento County...that we'd be further from Dianda's. Then, suddenly the daughter of one of the co-founders decides to open one up in Fair Oaks village and brings her father Armando Dianda out of retirement to be the head baker.

If you don't know, it's an Italian pastry shop known for their rum cakes among other things. This is also a heads up for those in the area because there has been relatively few great pastry shops in Sacramento County.....now with Dianda's and Ettore's and even Mirabelle's, we're sitting pretty.

I remember eating Ettore's when I lived in Sactown, well actually Carmichael, that was a damn good place.
