It's a stupid ban. If you don't want second hand smoke, don't go in the smoking section!

I'm not talking about going to the restaurant, as a smoker I'm just  how someone can actually make that sort of statement!

I'm against smoking, but if a private business owner wants to allow it in his/her establishment, that should be his/her right to do so.
Make them put up a sign saying that smoking is allowed her, enter at your own risk, or whatever, but get the government the fu&k out of our restaurants.

How many crimes ever happened because of alcohol? Too may to count

Smoking is not the real problem but oh well they tried to ban alcohol a while ago and it didn't work .They try to do the same thing with cigarettes now

Nobody has ever proven anything about second hand smoke's effects on health.

Wait until the price of cigarettes becomes so high that the blackmarket entrepeneurs start to see opportunity. Oh, sorry, my bad, they already have:

Cigarette Taxes, Black Markets, and Crime: Lessons from New York?s 50-Year Losing Battle

"In New York, it is literally more profitable to hijack a cigarette-delivery truck than an armored truck."

that's why ppl are using

Sure, but what about the employees serving the people that smoke, I am sure they would protest to people smoking since they originally joined the resturaunt knowing they wouldn't have to deal with this bs.

As a business owner you should be able to make changes in your policies if needed...you own the place. They can change it into a strip club if they feel like it. If employees don't like it they can find another restaraunt to work at.

Thats what I agree with. The only problem is that New York State recently enacted a ban on smoking in all public places (correct me if I am wrong, this is how I heard i). Bars, pool halls, restaurants. While I don't smoke, and despise the habit, I do think businesses should be able to make their own decisions about what they want and do not want. My friend lives near a smoke free pool hall (I was shocked by the site of a smoke free pool hall) and it was nice. But the place went under; no one went cause they couldn't smoke. I think it should be up to the proprietor and not the state. If people don't like the smoke, they can go elsewhere.

A couple of months ago, after the smoking ban in NY went into effect, a bouncer was killed trying to enforce the law on someone who was trying to smoke in the bar.

it was not BECAUSE of the smoking ban, its because the guy the bouncer was trying to kick out was an a$$hole who thought he was bigger than the law. dont blame the smoking ban, that is sooooo weak....

I dont know about other smoking bans, but the Dallas smoking ban, its not up to the resturant to enforce the ban. So its rarely enforced.

As a non-smoker and a person that hates breathing all that cancer causing crap that other people are killing themselves with I'm quite happy with the ban.
