Was over at a friend's during lunch to watch the NCAA Tournament and CBS was doing a news break. Dan Rather said they had one of their field correspondents on the phone and the screen came up with a picture of Iraq and a picture of the correspondent. When Rather asked a question to the 'correspondent' he was met with the response, "Bababooey you idiot!"


For those that don't know, this has been an ongoing thing with Rather and an apparent Howard Stern fan(s). They call in during major news events when Rather is on-air to say 'bababooey'.
 
It sounds like Dan Rather needs some better screeners if they don't even know their frield correspondents voices. 🙂

I have to give Rather credit though...he kept his cool (on the air at least) and still kept going smoothly with his broadcast. I'd hate to be the screener right about now though.

I believe this "Bababooey" thing started up about 9 years ago or so. In 1994, while in Germany, I was watching a live U.S. feed of CNN about a small commuter plane crash in N.C. At any rate, Bobbi Batista said that some official from the FAA was on the line and would comment about it. When the supposed FAA official comes on, Bobbi asks what he knows about the crash. This supposed official begins with something like "they were listening to Howard Stern and Bababooey" <CLICK!>
