They fired the second secretary at work...

At my work we had two office secretarys until yesterday, now we have one. They just sent out an email asking that each department(about 20) appoint a person to get the mail daily for their department.

So instead of one person doing mail 20 people are going to have to get mail(about half need to take the elevator to another floor), some of them paid very well since they only have a few people in their department.

How I love you corporate America.

i know what you mean though. here they appointed certain staff with "administrative duties" and axed two whole departments. now instead of specialists, we have jacks of all trades. not to mention they make you log every single little activity. ugh. i love my jerbs and everything, i'm just sayin

I am totally serious.

My friend's father owns a furniture wholesale company out of Jersey. They had around a dozen truck drivers, a full warehouse staff, secretaries, marketing, etc, back in 2007. Now it's just a handful drivers who rotate between warehouse and deliveries, and his father handles all of the office work and cleaning the restrooms.

Sad to say but the janitor at my place probably makes what a lot of the people in my department make...


... and we still have to clean our own floors and empty our own trash.

secretaries here are fired or quit within a few weeks so we are always hiring. most people would find the enviroment 'hostile' however.
