This could backfire, not because Republicans have any moral outrage or a spine, but because Republicans in the Senate seems to have just about had it with attacks on their own. They let Sessions to be the scapegoat but are reported to have told Trump that if he fires the AG then no one, nobody, no how, will be confirmed in his place.

Now Trump Toadies are after Gowdy, "Mr. Benghazi" himself. Perhaps worse, Trump has attacked the real masters of the Republicans, the corporate hand that fills the war chests by engaging in a trade war on just about everyone.

Screw the country? Fine. Screw corporations and business? Maybe not.
