Is it just me, or do others think that modern machines have absolutely crap reliability?
In my time I?ve only ever owned 2 PC?s ? an AMD 586 P75 from 1996 with that era?s tech and my modern system from 2001 shown in my sig.
Now the old AMD 586 rig has been though to university and back, plugged into many different power outlets WITHOUT surge protection and basically abused 24/7 (first by me then my brother) and built out of cheap components - yet it still works like a charm! Not one thing has died with that setup. Running Windows 98 with fantastic stability and reliability.
Then there is my 2001 rig. I buy a surge protector, fairly good components and guess what ? it?s reliability is piece of crap.
RIP ? Graphics card, memory stick, PS2 port, Gamepad, HardDrive. And it?s not even a year old! And no I?m not overclocking the FSB.
Anyone else have less reliability these days?
