They closed a Kmart down the street from me and are turning it into a Sears. Now I have to go 20 minutes out to get to a Walmart to find all those Kmart-y things... :(

Nope, all the tapes and DVDs went to the store in the Fenway location.

With the 3 Copy Cops, 2 CVS's, 2 Walgreens, 1 Kinkos, 2 Fed Ex offices, 2 UPS offices, and 2 Radioshacks, why on earth would I need a Staples Express?

Video rental stores still exist?

Yes, the vast majority of people still rent from video stores.

Just a typical "OMG I R SO L337Z0R! I'M AHEAD OF TECHNOLOGY" thread crap.

Their loss is our gain, less people on netflix the better.

Nothing beats having a video store down the street from you. Netflix is good, but the two day turn around time is just not fast enough at times.

I could go to teh Blockbuster that is about .5 miles from me, but I am not allowd to rent from that store anymore:(

Just a little hyperbole, lighten up Francis.
2 Blockbusters and 2 local chains near my apartment have closed in the past 2 years, I can only think of one video rental place still open in my neighborhood. I'm just amazed at how fast they are being phased out, at least in Manhattan.

Not really. They don't just arbitrarily buy a certain number of each DVD, it's based on the number of customers they have and how much demand they expect.

I use Netflix for renting more obscure titles and TV shows, but most of my rentals come from my local Hollywood Video - 1 mile from my house, unlimited rentals (3 out at a time) for $15 a month. And unlike with Netflix, it actually IS unlimited rentals at Hollywood Video. :)
