"It's definitely a cultural change to use foreign workers," says Sivaramakichenane Somasegar, Microsoft's vice-president for Windows engineering. "But if I can save a dollar, hallelujah."

Just means as individuals we need to make our skill set that much more attractive, or not expect the premium wages we are now receiving. It just makes business sense that if you can get the same quality work for half the cost, you do it. I wouldn't blame or boycott any business for that.

I don't think making skill sets more attractive can help in this situation. The issue is that these companies can outsource overseas for 50-60% cheaper (or more) than getting the same job done over here. Expecting premium wages is one thing, but 50-60% less is too much to give up. Even if US workers were willing to settle for less, they could never come close to what these people are getting paid overseas. At that point none of these jobs are paying close to the cost of living in the US, and some damn near would put you below the poverty line. One guy in that article was happy with his $10,000 a year job designing phone chips. That is probably anywhere from a $40,000-$80,000 a year job in the US. How can US workers compete with that?

Ok now I am in need of some advice, and I'm sure many others are thinking the same thing. I am a junior in High School, and am wanting to work in the computer field. In lieu of this new info, what is the most profitable section of the computer field to go into?
