I mean, just think, if they thought about distributing tasks over the internet... or maybe they did, latency would certainly be worse with distributed-computing over the internet, as compared with a localized PS3 cluster.

Pretty neat, though, overall. No wonder we didn't want Iran getting PS3 consoles.

Yeah the PS3 was a big time folding rig back when it was launched. The points it could make compared to the cost and power it used was almost unmatched.

Sony killed it when they took Linux support away (IIRC) and that was the end of the PS3 F@H Saga.
