These temps look right?

Ok had a Thermaltake Volcano 7+ running at low speed at all times. Kept my 1800+@2.3Ghz@200FSB@1.725 vcore at 50c/55c. Sold it for a Gigabyte 3D cooler mainly because it looks cool in my Antec case than and I only have $5 in it after selling the Volcano 7+. I wasnt expecting much is any temp drop.

Curious should I have got any temp drop? I'm keeping about the same temps. I did use the gigabyte thermal paste and I think used Artic Silver II on the Volcano 7+. Think its worth the effort to take this big sucker back off to put ASII on? Or should I leave it alone as long as its staying un 60c? Regardless this is the best $20 I've spent on a cooler. Got it new retail also 😀 I love these forums.

Thx

Is 50/55C idle or under load? If that's under load then it's fine. That's what my Alpha and Vantec Stealth keep my 2500+ @ 3200+ at under load.

And I'd have used Arctic Silver over the stock paste that comes with that cooler. But I don't see a lot of reason to tear it apart just to reapply the compound. That can wait until you have to do other work concurrently. IMHO...

i've got the same problem, I've got an aftermarket solution on my barton 2800+, and it runs at temps similar to yours, the answer i've gotten is, some processors in particular just run hotter than others 🙁

yeah thats a little too warm to be safe. proc life tends to decrease exponentially as the temp rises above 55C or so.
