These higher than average winter temperatures in the northeast are really concerning.

From a global warming standpoint, first the really hot summer and now the really warm winter. The northeast must be thoroughly convinced of global warming by now.

BAZINGA.

Neither news nor politics. Plenty of threads about temps in OT - the home of bazinga.

http://www.usatoday.com/story/weather/2015/02/16/warm-winter/23510107/
For the first two weeks of February, while chilly weather enveloped the northeastern U.S. and record snow buried New England, practically the entire western half of the nation was seeing phenomenal, record warmth.

How warm? So far this month, there have been 4,074 records set for warm temperatures —- mostly in the West — and only 236 records for cold temperatures, the NCDC reported.

Records for warm temperatures have been set in Seattle, San Jose, Las Vegas, Reno, Salt Lake City and Butte, Mont.

In Salt Lake City, the average temperature in February is a whopping 16.4 degrees above average, AccuWeather said. Other warm spots include Boise (12.2 degrees above average) and Phoenix (8 degrees above average).

I can continue.

I wonder if the northeast is the entire planet yet, because if it's not then what you said was really dumb.

Yes Yes, Mr Smarty pants, We all know. All warmer then average weather events = evidence of global warming.

All colder then normal weather events - insignificant local weather.

Global warming means that every square inch of land on earth must be warmer at all times throughout the year.

Because freedom. Also, capitalism.

Last year's winter was cold too. What was that about 2014's temperature?

Yeah, I'm also getting sick of this condescending attitude that warm events = global warming and cold events = only idiot deniers would see this as evidence of anything. I was beginning to wonder if I was the only one who noticed it.

I gotta love fucking morons who get mad at others for pointing out their stupidity just because they are clueless on the subject.

Thanks OP for showing us yet another subject you know absolutely nothing about.

You're clearly very confused. Lots of snow does not mean lower temperatures. Do you know what it actually means? More precipitation. Guess what causes precipitation? Remember studying this in 2nd grade?

It's clearly impossible that the average global temperature - land, sea, and air - for an entire year could possibly be higher than the global average for previous years unless every recorded temperature is higher than all previous recorded temperatures at every instant of every day for every location on Earth. If even one colder day occurs at some location on Earth, the global average temperature for the current year cannot be higher.
