These forums lock up IE5.5 ?

Only when I visit these forums which I do quite often my browser locks up alot. I went from IE 5 to 5.5 to try that but it keeps doing it, usually when it seems to be looking for ad banners. My system is as follows:
c2@800
g400max
256 megs ram
win2k pro
384 sdsl
seems to be the relevant stuff, I can quit out of it from task manager but it only happens at these forums, any ideas?
thanks,
Daniel

Interesting comment and all, it doesn't lock up every time but a few times a day when I'm here and pages are loading, thought maybe others could have the same problem.

Umm, web pages do not lock up browsers. Browsers and poor video drivers lock up browsers.

IE 5.5 is not the most stable of the IE version history.

good call Zuni make sure you have the latest drivers or perhaps the most stable version of your video card and try it again. if so change your drivers back to an older version.

Well I was having the same problem with IE5, my video drivers are the MS certified ones for win2k and it doesn't freeze anywhere else strangely enough, it always seems to have trouble finding the ad server, does that help any?

I could do that, it's rock solid though, nothing crashes on here, stress tests, games, everything else is fine just stops responding here off and on daily, wondering if I tried one of those webwasher type of programs to see if blocking the ad server would fix it or not, at least it would narrow it down?

same here daniel. 5.5 locks up at anandforums and mircosoft's update page but nowhere else. and there isn't an uninstall option forin my add/remove programs. hate 5.5 it sucks

Well at this point I'm guessing that is the case cause I've switched isps and now it doesn't do it, well not yet anyway but that would be wierd huh.

Go into add/remove programs and highlight internet explorer and click whatever and do a repair. That sometimes helped me.
