Thermometer that can plug into a computer?

Howdy,

I'm looking to take some temperature readings at my house and am looking for some sort of thermometer that can plug into a computer. I'd like to basically have it take temperature readings and graph them out and such. This could be used inside, outside, etc. I've searched at buy.com and amazon and such but didn't find anything at all.

Does anyone know of anything like this? Preferably with some sort of software that could graph the data. Possibly record humidity settings as well...

I work with those daily. Unfortunately what I do is far more advanced and requires far more precision than what you are probably after. Thus I use $500+ PCI cards to do it. It definately can be done, but I don't personally know of low priced equipment to do it. Good luck.

Someone came up with a way of wiring RTDs into your joystick port a while back. Try doing a search on it.

Any EE/CS could probably rig up a thermistor to plug into the COM port and write some ghetto grade software.

Google on 1wire DS1820 ... this is a thermistor chip that you can hook up to a serial port. You can find kits for about $50
I built one a few years back to monitor some stuff ... can run 4 sensors off of 1 serial port. Worked really well.
