As the title mentions, I want to buy a volcano 6 cu+ to go with my XP1800 cpu, where the MOBO is the Soyo dragon+. Is it a good choice? Or you have a better suggestion, I would like to keep the price of the HSF to about 20~30 bux. Thanx for any reply!

yeah go with the Volcano 7. The 6cu+ is very loud. I had one and took it out after about a minute because of the noise, and I had 14 other fans in my computer. The volcano 7 uses an 80mm fan so it's much quieter, and it seems to cool pretty well.

Here's another it's too loud vote. I have it on my 1.2 duron. It cools it fine, but the fan is 39dba, high pitched and whiney. It's actually the only fan I have in this case (upgrading to an antec sx1000 for better cooling soon) and it's louder than my sister's xp1600+ with the retail hsf, and 2 80mm sunon's.

I can hear this thing the moment I come in my front door. I can hear it from upstairs, the comp is downstairs. My parents have even complained about how loud it is. I told my mom that I needed to get an adapter to put the other fan on there. And she said, "Go get it now." :)

I'm gonna pick up a 60mm to 80mm adapter and throw one of those quiet panaflo's on there.

Ugh, I find even the regular Volcano 6Cu to be too loud! Heck, get an Alpha 8045 and a Panaflo L1A :)
