so I just purchased this this HSF effectivly replacing my volcano 7 on my xp 1800+. It has made a word of difference. i was having a lot of problems with my computer resetting randomly, and figured it had something to do with heat as the system ran consistantly between 55-60* C. As soon as i installed this, the temps dropped to about 30-35*, and my reset problems stopped. I have it running at full speed at about 5800 rpm. Its not quiet by any means (nor is it light-weight), but for my purposes this HSF is great.

use one of the rheostats to turn down the rpm to a point where it won't permanently damage your hearing.

I had one of those and found very little difference in performance at lower rpm.

My old AXP is using a Volcano 10+ and it's a loud mofo. If only I had a fan controller on that thing. Heck, it's still quieter than the stock POS that came with it. Anyway, be careful and don't chip the core.
