Just got Venus 12 by Thermaltake installed as an overclocking heatsink. I did not expect much since their Vulcano 9 and 11 were quite a dissappointment to me. Nevertheless this is a good heatsink and reduced temperatures on my A64 by about 8-10C from the retail heatsink. It is bigger, full copper microfin, with a rather large and powerfull fan. Adjustments are of the same type as on their K7 models (three way). Looks like a very solid heatsink to me for overclocking use. On CPU voltage of 1.66V I get 45C using Prime95 blend torture test. Board temperature is 28C. I think it is probably safe to crank up to 1.7V.
Not a bad product at all.
And I was finally able to crank up my A64 to 240 which is 2.4 GHz. Therefore the K8V motherboard is capable of that, all you need is a decent cooling solution. I think the CPU probably has a room for 2.5 on air with 1.75V but given the price I am not sure I want to find out if that is safe or not.
