Which is better for athlon 3400+ or is there something even better out. Price is not in issue. Not interested in watercooling. Thanks :p

Admittedly, I don't have any experience with the Venus 12, but I'm a big fan of the Zalman heatsinks. I recommend you just go for the CNPS7000A-AlCu instead of the copper version, though. Same performance, lighter weight and lower cost, even if price isn't an issue.

Probably the best heatsink you can buy, though, is one of the high end Thermalright ones. Sorry, I don't remember the model, but it's made specifically for the Athlon 64, I think. They give very high cooling performance when coupled with a good fan.

I have the Venus 12 on my A64 3000, temps never go more then 2 - 3 degrees over the MB temp. I don't know much about A64's temps though, so whether this is good or not I have no idea. Currently ambient here is about 65F and my mb/cpu temp is 73/75 respectively.

I haven't oc'd at all on this though. Are temps on the A64 read from the mb diode? or is there a diode on the cpu die itself...?
