I'm planning a new build (only the 5th-6th one) to include one of the 8800 video cards and 680i or equivalent MB (Asus?). I'm not into oc-ing - yet. The Thermaltake VA8000BWS case is regarded as being roomy and cool.

First, opinions on that case, please (or close options); and

Second, several reviews on various PSU's have expressed concerns regarding the cables being too short. If I purchase this case, then suggestions on PSU's that will work will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance for comments.

I just built my new system with that case, and yes its got pleny of room. I would suggest getting the Aluminum version if you like to do a lot of tweaking with your system, it's tons lighter. And I have built systems with both and think the extra 30-40 bucks to have the lighter case is worth it, even if you absolutely have to have a black case, go get a couple cans of black spray paint and go that route.

As for power supplies, I had an old Vantec Stealh 520 watt in it to start with and it had sufficently long cables, was forced to take it out due to it starting to fail (after 2.5 yrs of good service mind you) and put in a 750 watt thermaltake modular power supply, which also has cables that are plenty long to reach the bottom of the case, though not quite long enough that I could hide it behind the mb tray (drat its the only one hehe).

I do know that a lot of the cheaper power supplies floating around would not be long enough to reach the bottom bays if you intend to use em tho.

which aluminum version are you referring to, the VA8003SWA? I have my eye on that case, but the VA8000BWS can be had pretty cheap after rebates.

Actually I was thinking more of this version, http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16811133155 , it doesn't have the big 250 mm fan but it is 20 bucks cheaper than the one with it.

I did just notice the deal with MIR on the black steel version brings it down to $109, which I know is damned hard to pass up, I probably would get the steel version myself at that price differance, hell it was only $30 difference when I got mine a month ago and I still got the black, steel version. Allthough I wish I had gotten the Alu version ;)

As to weather you want to get the one with or without the 250 mm fan, it is probably a toss up, But, considering I did go water cooling, I didn't have any fans blowing across the Mosfets, they tended to get really hot, so I had to hang an additionl 80mm fan under my power supply to get some air moving across that area. The version with the 250 mm fan would likely have eliminated the need for it.

Edit: cause my brain aint workin right and im tired, mis-spelled a bunch of stuff horribly!!!! ;)

Nother Edit:

Almost every Tt case has a common name as well as a part number - makes it easier for most to use the common name - in this case it's the Armor.
