I have a core 2 duo E6400 running around 2.32Ghz and i've got Arctic Silver Ceramique on an Thermaltake TMG i1. My idle temps are around 40 C...i expected way better with all the positive comments on Newegg's product review. The Ceramique hasn't quite broken in yet though, so would that be a factor?

And is that Thermaltake really a GOOD HSF? doubts are pooling in my mind.

Those comments from newEgg are NOT reviews!!
Personally that heatsink is at best a teir 2 heatsink!!
There is noway its a teir 1 heatsink!!

That particular Thermaltake heatsink is good but NOT very good!!

You could also try taking it off and remounting it....
But if I was going to get a real nice heatsink it sure would not be that particular heatsink from Thermaltake!!

Good Luck!!

Newegg "reviews" are never reliable you should always take them as a grain of salt...

Try re-mounting it. Also for future reference, Ceramique needs very little "break-in" time (as opposed to AS5).

AS5 as well as ceramique are all over rated....
There was a time when the Artic Silver products were the best. Those days are totally gone!
Any good thermal paste will work just fine!~!

Is your fan speed set in the bios? Possibly set to quiet running? Most "reviews" will be of the fans funning full speed or at the "performance" setting. Does your box get enough fresh air? open the side panel to test this.

Is your IHS on your CPU flat? How was the base of the heatsink? Many thermaltake heatsinks tend to not be very smooth on the bottom.

OOOH..i think i might've applied the Ceramique incorrectly...i'll double check that. And also, my HSF's RPM is on Auto so its like constantly running at around 2600RPM. I only took it off my mobo's control because it would always run at like 600-900 RPM which gave me temps like 45 idle.

And does the application of the Ceramique severly matter? I didn't really get instructions becausee i bought the thermal paste OEM.
