I'm building a rig and wanted to use 2 of these in front of my Antec SX600II case to light up the front bezel. The fans use connectors to the HDD & Power LED connectors on the motherboard. How many LED connectors are there on motherboards (I'm probally gonna use the Asus A7N8X)? If there aren't enough connectors can I just splice them together or will this overload the mobo?
If not i'll have to use my brilliance to rig up a transistor to power the extra LED's :D

I'd also like to know about this... Can you just splice a led wire off the mboard? anyone resolved an extra hddled situation like this?

Doesn't answer my question, i know how to set them up so they will be on constantly on, but i want to hook them up to the mobo connectors for HDD activity and Power.

The directions on the fan basically state that you can connect the fan or your front led's, not both. So, I think you'd run the risk of damaging your mobo if you hooked too many up. You can easily connect them to have them on all the time (there's a molex connector for them) but they're always on that way.

Yup, look at the instructions on Thermaltake's site. However, that doesn't mean it's impossible. If you can build yourself an amp circuit, you can control the Coolmods with your mobo.

Ya i'll rig up a transistor on the header to power/control the LED's on the fan.
Gotta love bein an EE major =P

Nope transistor, opamp could work too, but i have transistors on hand, and i find them simpler to setup.
I don't need any amplification, just the switching on/off will suffice.
(Aren't opamps several transistors arranged in a fashion to get amplification?)

Here is a schematic of how i'd arrange it.
