I saw that AAT's review of the 90nm CPU's was with the Thermaltake Silentboost K8. I was wondering if anyone knew how well this worked, especially compared to the Zalman 7000 and Thermalright X90/120. Anyone have any comparisons on how these compare, especially with overclocking??

Thanks!

It runs nice and quiet at stock settings.

For overclocking, Anand (or whoever here wrote the article) used a Silent Boost K8 during the 90nm overclocking test that he got up to 2.6Ghz, so it is good enough for some overclocking.

I have one, and it works just fine.

Its an alright cooler, I would get the venus12 over the silentboost though. But i would still get the ZALMAN CNPS7000A-Cu over both of those and if your on a budget get the ZALMAN CNPS7000A-AlCu

Out of curiosity, what is the CNPS7000B-AlCu? It costs more than the A-Cu pure copper cooler, so I was trying to figure out why.

How much of a temperature drop could I expect by switching from the stock s939 HSF to these??

How much of a temperature difference will there be between the pure copper and the aluminum/copper mixture??

Will this fit in most s939 mobos?? (Especially the new Soltek board)

Thanks!!

Correct me if im wrong, but the Zalman CNPS7000B's are basically the new revisions. According to Zalman, they perform better than their older brothers (the CNPS7000A's) :p

Thermaltake HSF's SUCK. They do not cool anywhere near the levels that a Zalman or a Thermalright would cool. ALso they are extremely noisy.

TT used to be regarded as high quality now they are very flashy and poor quality.

I have the thermaltake silentboost K8. Although it is a really good heat sink the fan runs at a low rpm which is good for people who want it silent but cool as good as the retail fan at least. I decided to take the original fan off mine and I put a thermaltake smart fan which is really loud but effective and lowered my temp 15 more degrees.
