hey dudes,

i just picked up a thermaltake a1838 and i dont think it's 21dba. either that, or my fan is busted, becuase there's there's horrible buzzing sound from it. it's supposed to be a panaflo fan (the model number does not have the -1 on it), but i can honestly hear a buzzing from it...over my 25dba coolermaster LED fans.

anyone have this problem as well?

Thermaltake is well known for lying about their specs. In the case of the SilentBoost they do what they do best. The fan that they claim is a "21dB Panaflo" is actually the louder 28dB version of that same fan. It's easy to verify if you peel back the TT label and look at the Panaflo label underneath. I'd take the POS back and exchange it for a Zalman 7000A-AlCu, as long as it fits on your board.

I doubt it should be "buzzing", regardless if the fan is not the correct spec. You should probably get it exchanged.
