Thermaltake Power Supplies Pure Crap

the thermaltake power supplies are absolute crap. Ive went through 2 w0009r 420watt purepower's in the course of 6 months. The first died during a thunder storm which two cheaper computers with generic supplies lived through. I chalked it up to the storm and went out and bought another. The second died after 3 months of use and was hooked up to a high quality surge protector and was being run well within its limits. Recently it just refuesed to turn on, you could faintly hear it running but it was supplying no power out of the connectors.

Thermaltake gives no warranty's at all for these PS's and all though they appear high quality and deliver the necessary power, their reliability is terrible and obviously there quality control needs serious work.

Now im am using an Antec 400watt solution series which runs flawlessly so far. Antec give a 3 year warranty with their PS's in my opinion that is worth the extra 15-20 bucks.

I hate it when companies like thermaltake give off the impression that their equipment is high quality enthusiast stuff, when it is really poorer quality than some of the generic stuff out there.:disgust:

Sorry to say but you are the very first person Ive seen to have had a bad experience with any Thermaltake PSU.

My own Purepower 420W has been running for a good 6-7 months and produces stable voltages to this day.

The only problem I had was that I was sent a 2-prong power lead instead of a 3 prong power lead which has nothing to do with the power supply.

I am also surprised to hear of problems with the Thermaltake power supplies. I believe they are manufactured by High Power and are also sold under the Enlight name. I have two of the Enlight 420W power supplies and they are working great. One has been running for 10 months in an overclocked KT3 Ultra 2 and the other has been running since July in an overclocked Nforce 2 system. All the reviews of the Enlight and Thermaltake PSU's I have seen have been pretty positive, excluding yours, of course.

3rd that.

Also, is it possible that the said power supply is on a different circuit in your place that might experience more surges or sags than the other PS's?

Ditto!

I've never looked at Thermaltake as a "quality" part manufacturer....... they are more into the "tacky" side of the business; ie: butt ugly cases, fans with lights, etc..... ;)
