52 C is way too high an idle temp. You would be best getting a heatsink that could keep the processor somewhere in the 40's at idle. Now before you go asking what is a good heatsink to buy, do a search in the forums for "heatsinks" and you will find what you are looking for.😎

i would work on your case 1st to see if you can get the temp down 45c with side on....then get a new sink..

Hmm it isn't THAT bad, my friend run a 1.2 T-Bird with a Volcano II and no case fans (he knows nothing about computers, it's me who want his computer to get cooler!) his also idles at 52C and rises to 59C under use (Q3A is the most stressing that has been run on it).

If your computer runs fine, why bother? My 1.4 T-Bird was idling at 45C and rose to 51C, and that was with a DragonOrb3 and a case temp of 31C.

But, as has been mentioned in some posts lately, and MikeWarrior has been saying it for a long time, you really can't compare socket thermistor temps. The temps I mentioned came from some of the more precise mobos (even though you cannot use the word precise about socket thermistors), Asus A7V and MSI K7T Turbo. Many mobos read lower than them, and I've seen similar setups with other mobos be within what you guys recommend (45-47C).
