Right now im in the process of building a very small mATX gaming rig.

I just can't decide on a case. I was wanting on that is pretty small but still fits my video card and also isnt really expensive.

Thermaltake LANBOX
Thermaltake LANBOX LITE is all I came up with.

How many W power supply would you guys say id need for...

Rampage II mATX mobo
core i7 920
6gb DDR3
msi 4890 radeon
500 GB seagate drive
DVD-RW

That's basiclly all that is going to be in it. I was going with LANBOX cause i heard its got a lot of room for a 4890 video card.

I guess $90 for the 520 isnt bad. I was hoping to only spend about $50 on a PSU to save some money. Any cheaper ones that would work? I plan on doing no OCing or adding much more internal components

Core i7 920 $280
Radeon 4890 $210
Asus Rampage II Gene $260
Cheap PSU $50
System running unstable because of sagging +12v rails...

Priceless.

Budget yourself at least $70-100 for a PSU for such a system.

The LANBOX is actually kind of big for such a small case. It is "small" in the sense that it is short. It is wider and almost as deep as a mid-tower.

Sometimes one can find decent deals on quality PSU's in the FS/FT forum...just be patient & keep your eye out.

*Edit* Here's a preowned 520HX in the FS/FT forum for $65 shipped.

does anybody know if the GTS 250 (which supposedly has shorter PCB than the 8800GT) fits the lanbox lite without removing the drive cage?

It depends on what is over the card, as pretty much all GTS 250 I've seen have the power connector on top of the card versus at the end of the card.

Lanbox Lite is said to house a 9.6" card with the HD cage and 10.6" without. Just look up the dimensions of the video card you are interested in and keep in mind the power connectors might shorten those max lengths as well. Why use the drive cage anyway? I'm also building a Lanbox Lite and I've already decided from my research to mount my system hard disk in the 5.25" space under the optical drive and install a card reader in the 3.5. The cage also blocks the intake fan if used.
