Thermaltake Heat Exchange CPU cooler? Opinions?

Remedy

Diamond Member
Has anyone here used the TT Heat exchange? Prior to today, I never noticed it. The price is decent, But, I wonder if there are any teething issues peeps are having with this?

I feeling a little*smart*so consider this an un-neccessary bump.

That is not a HS, it's a 874g mini-high rise. That's almost double the 500g mainboard reccomended limit. Wow! It's Sumo class. That 874g is w/o a fan.

Go here Text look at the HSF in the right top corner, $54.95 and
355g with an included 92mm fan. Read some reviews on it.

I just bought a XP-90C and my choices were the above HS,the SI-120,the XP-120.

Weight sitting high is not a good thing. Called torque.

If someone has this HS please say something. If i had one, i'd stick a tiny 747 model airplane
in amoungst the top fins.

Doesn?t look like a good idea to me. Why put your radiator on top of the water block? And why try and cool a radiator with hot case air? Very poor idea.

Edit: Just went to the TT site and looked at this thing again. It's a joke. You would need huge amounts of air moving through the case for it to work. I'd buy a $20 HSF before using using this thing.

I don't get it. You fellows really think that using hot case air to cool a radiator is a good idea? And mounting the thing on your cpu is somehow better than mounting it on the case?

Hello!

Hello!

Not all "case air" is hot..."better" as you put it is totally subjective...better for/than what?
I just think its an interesting idea...might have potential...Guess its because I am so open-minded. 😛

Hello!

HELLO!!! you need to go to the Thermaltake site and look and read about this before commenting on it...thinking outside the box is a very appropriate term....

Strange Idea

Heavy

Ninja/Sonic Tower flow-through air design

Heavy

Could save on space in a tight case

Heavy

I actually quite like it.... Its probably not going to set the WC world alight with its innovative design but Thermaltake really is trying hard. Tai Chi, Kandalf, Armour, Big Typhoon, Symphony, this.... they are definately trying to bring something different to the table and certainly succeeding in areas (Armour and Big Typhoon being most notable)

I did read about it, and I still think it's a very poor idea. You would be better off hanging a radiator in the middle of your case with bits of wire. Why put all that load on the cpu socket for no reason?

actually thats is no more load than you would have in you used the Scythe Ninja with a fan...or the Big Typhoon.....and several other heatsinks...but to each his now I guess!!

bad because: way too heavy, need a lot of case flow to do any good, way too many bends and loops that will just kill your waterflow

GY, thank you so much. I was reading the thread, and clicked the link. While I was there, I went ahead and searched for "xeon" to see if any new coolers had come out for my setup. I'm in love. Oh man, I would love to get my hands on these. Time to do some research, and find some reviews. And I don't know if you could use them in a dually setup, but I'll sure as hell find out. Thank you so much!!

Tas, email them. They will work with you. They have a good staff and are run buy a hands on owner operater. They just moved to OK from NY. I said it once today in another thread but here goes. No tax, realistic shipping.

Go to thermalright's site and see what you find. Email them also.

Tas,
That's an addaptation of the SI-97 so it should be real close as far as performance.
Look for reviews on the SI-97.
For the time being Thermalright is the current benchmark for PC heatpipe HSs.
