Conclusion:

The ONLY thing that saves the "Extreme Giant III" from getting the Goat is the fact that it actually performs quite well. And it should; Zalman did a great job designing the original heatsink Thermaltake copied.

But Thermaltake did NOT improve on it; they just added a bunch of crap to make it look "Extreme", and ended up with a silly looking thing that Counterstrike n00bs might like, but anyone over 12 is just going to laugh at.

The sickeningly loud blower sticks out like a sore thumb, doesn't add ANY noticable performance at ALL, and I can't see any reason for it being there, other than to make the Giant III look "Extreme". Sure it's "Extreme". Extremely UGLY.

That thing looks ridiculous.

Would like to see benchmarks with that vs. a zalman one.

That turbo blower thing looks ridiculous.

The review I read SAVAGED it pretty bad, but in the end admitted that it worked well. All the fan settings didn't appear to make much difference in terms of performance and the reviewer said that the cute mini blower made the most annoying/loud fan sound.

If you can run it without the blower it might be a decent product. I just can't see adding another 60db+ to my case for so little return.

You're got one? Is it worth the money?

I haven't.... still :) . I may buy that or an Audigy 2... we'll see, but it seems to me audigy is a better choice for now. If I earn some extra money though I'll buy that Giant ;)

:) I know what you mean! I was looking at the new Audigy 2, but I can't justify it because I'm STILL running Klipsch 4.1. :(
