Thermaltake butterfly 480w PSU

I bought the above PSU about 5 months ago, and have had no problems with it until today. It was horrible heard a peircing noise come from my computer then, the computer shutdown. I knew right off the bat my PSU blew. But why? To my discovery a little black mark was found on the circuit board. Can someone suggest an explanation for this? Or has anyone had a similar problem with their thermaltakes?
P.S. It was a hot day today.

My computer:
amd 64 3000+
abit av8 Mobo
pc 3200 512mb ddram
ati radeon x800
seagate 200gb sata HD
DVD rom / CD rom
And a crappy old case.

Maybe just a bad PSU or there wasn't enough circulation, but I haven't had any problems with them.

Maybe the Butterfly is Junk

Bottom Line: The Thermaltake W0021 Purepower 480W Butterfly looked promising with its lights, the window and the multicolored cables until it blew up.....
