Thermaltake Bigwater 745 vs Thermalright Ultra 120

I currently have a Thermaltake bigwater 745 in my system and it pretty much has been reliable for the last two years, but recently I moved house and well lifting the PC was, well... painful...

I'm thing of going back to Air cooling but I'm not sure how the big water 745 rates compared with Air cooling, I know it's not the best water cooling kit availible ,but I got it cheap and it hasn't given any problems, but compared to earlier bigwater kits the 745 was miles above them in terms of cooling performance.

does anybody know how a Thermalright Ultra 120 Extreme HSF unit would compare to the water cooling kit?

my experiences with the Ultra 120 extreme in the past have been pleasant but I've never compared one directly to my water cooling kit.

It won't make your pc weigh any less and if you have good airflow the temps will be ok. I would run that TT till it drops and then go air. The TRUE has it's own set of problems with uneven bases and if you plan to move your box around a lot you'll want to brace any tower heatsink in a vertical board application. They are heavy, not that they're likely to break your board but damage can occur with sudden unexpected jolts.

well, what are your temps now with the Big Water? With the TRUE 120 you can expect to see idle temps in the 20s, and load temps in the 40s. You've got a pretty high vcore on that OC, so it will actually probably be a little higher than that.

the ultra would spank it or get = it.

put great static fans against it, and it wouldnt be much of a competition.

TT waterkits are toys, and labeled so. They are meant for bling and wowz, but in the performance area, there very lacking.

my current temps are in the mid 50's idle and high 70's full load, although prime95 can see them reach low 80's

i'm wondering how u can give him those 20's and 40's temperatures without knowing his room temperature, or what country he's in for that matter?

You understand what i mean about lacking. :T

nice...those temps shit all over my Bigwater.

how much of a temp difference is there between the B3 stepping (What I have) the G0 at the same clock speed?

Wanna pull anymore quads on me? 😛

This is actually off a budget price system also, if i recall correctly. 😛
Meaning if your willing to really invest in h2o, you can pull better temps then these, as long as your ambients arent like 90F.

But it should give you an idea of what a real water system is capable of.
