This might be a naive question, but with the thermaltake 120 ultea and fan weighing nearly 2 lbs, does it have the potential to damage your MB since the vast majority of people are using it in a tower case? That much weight attached vertically to a pretty thin MB can't be good for it... am I missing something?

Its only a problem if you are careless when moving your PC.

Also its Thermalright, not Thermaltake, one makes crap the other doesn't.

It's not all that heavy, unlike a few copper units out there. I just installed mine today and it's only a small amount heavier than my XP-120 it replaced. The only thing is it was a pain in the monkey brains to get the second screw started in my 939 setup. Temps are awsome, ran 2 instances of Orthos and ran 52-55c max oc'ed to 2.7Ghz, I was getting those temps at 2.6Ghz with my XP-120, and my AS5 isn't even close to being set yet so I expect things to improve. Take the plunge, Thermalright makes incredible cooling products. As for Thermaltake, I stick with their cases and PSU's, cooling from them is a gamble.

I worried about the weight of the Ultra 120 also. So far it has not been a problem. Motherboards are rather stiff and several screws secure the board to the case in the area of the CPU socket which does provide good support. Also the sturdy backplate of the Ultra 120 provides more support.

This is not to say that I am not careful when moving the case around the house. And, if I had been planning to take my case to LAN parties and such, I would have gone with a smaller heatsink.
