click me you know you wanna.

weighs in at less than the SP94, this giant pure aluminium heatsink can be mounted on P4 sockets without removing the socket and adding a back plate as it weighs 250grams less than the SP94 while offering better cooling.

no exact numbers are thrown around but according to that preview, it's definatly better performing than SP94. can't wait until this monster is out. not everyone wants to have the 1KG monster made by coolermaster hanging off their motherboard...

Wouldn't it have been more effective if there was a pure copper variety? Or is bigger just better? :p

:Q

If it doesn't cost an arm and a leg, I'd buy one.

I think that using a copper core, but aluminum fins, would be better. I'm a big fan of hybrid coolers.

A pure copper version of THAT monster would cost as much as your processor and require external structural supports.

Hell I thought that thing was pure silver from the looks of it. If it was I wonder how it would perform.

advantage number 1: less weight
advantage number 2: out performs SP94
advantage number 3: mounts to stock intel bracket without MB removal and weighs in at under the intel set standard of 450grams max.

now if you were to replace it with a pure copper one, say good bye to advantage 1 & 3 and say hello to a kilo or more of weight hanging off your motherboard. any maker can just produce a friggin huge/heavy copper heatsink and claim it to be the best aircool heatsink. enter hyper 6. it's good thing thermalright is steering away from 1 KG monsters isn't it? :disgust:

Its nice to see a company that puts a lot of science and common sense into their products. I wish to continue buy Thermalright products until my hands become to skinny and wrinkled to build computers and then I'll just buy them to look at.

Im sure it could as my SP-97 can cool my CPU passively well with the case fans but I think maybe it could keep it OK without them.

I have an SLK947U and recently noticed that my heat was a little high (42C idle). Found out that my Fan only plug on my psu has been blown by my Vantec 92mm Tornado. That means that for a few days my system was running without a PSU fan, just the heatsink and casefan's for cooling. And I was Oc'ing the mobile in my sig at the time too. Pretty darn impressive to me. This likely would do it.
