Looking to overclock and want to know what would be a better aftermarket heatsink.

Motherboard: DFI Lanparty NF4 UT Ultra-D
CPU: Athlon 64 x2 3800+
Thermal Compound: Arctic Silver 5
Case: P180

I'm only looking to overclock my 3800 to about 2.4 GHz, maybe 2.5 in the future. Should the xp-90 be sufficient? or would I need the xp-120? And with this setup, are there any cheaper solutions? Thanks.

Either is a good HSF and either will probably do the job well enough, although i'd go for the SI 120 if it were my choice.

I have the xp-120 and most of the time i don't even have to turn on my panaflo fan. temps are pretty good on my 3200+ venice i get about 26C idle load is about 32... if i oc to 2.5ghz (from 2.0) i don't almost never pass the 40 mark even at load... the only down side to the xp120 is the sheer size. I think it was overkill for me.. and i hear that copper draws heat better than anything else. If you can make it fit in your case, and want to lower the total noise on your system. i say go for the xp120 and a fan. leave it spinning on low and you won't have any problems
